From the president's desk

December 2008 SAIMC

Finally, it is my favourite time of the year!

I received some compliments from you on my October issue insert, thank you. I am glad to see that someone apart from me reads the column. I hope that you all had a great year and that you have achieved your goals and objectives for 2008. I am still a little behind on my G&Os, but I remain positive that I will deliver on what I set out to achieve this year.

It is a crazy time of the year with all the year-end parties, banquets and golf days going on that granny seems to have moved in with me. (Granny is the appointed baby sitter.) During this festive time please be sensible and do things in moderation, drinking and driving is a NO NO. There is no party worth an injury or a damaged car, so take it easy!

I look forward to 2009. I am particularly interested in seeing how we as a country perform against a doom and gloom European and American market. 2009 is an election year, will there be a break-away ANC faction? Is this good or bad? Will our currency ever see $1=R8,00 again? Whatever happens, our South African soul will prevail!

I would like to wish you and your families a festive, safe and prosperous holiday season.

Paulo da Silva, president SAIMC
