Following on from my column last month, it is amazing how quickly things can change. If you recall I was making mention of how great it was to see so much upgrading going on in the Johannesburg area. We now have a complete re-shuffle of our government, including a new president. When all of this happened in September, I went from optimistic to pessimistic and back and forth depending on what I heard on the news. Finally I processed the information the way I wanted to understand it and I feel good about my decision. If you listen closely to how people present a certain topic you can get a feel for how they want you to understand it. Although the actual news event is the same, when presented, they could mean different things. The important thing to remember is how we, the listener, interpret the information. The SAIMC council has also experienced some change, Bill who was our vice-president has decided to step down for this year, and we have in the interim appointed Johan Van Jaarsveld to this position. Bill is still the general secretary and continues to add huge value to our organisation. Enough about politics…
Two things are difficult for me to write about, what is going to happen, and what has happened, with regards to the SAIMC. I have to submit this article in September for the November issue that you are now reading. Without boring the reader and stating all the things that have happened, or for me are still going to happen, but by the time this is printed, would have happened, I know….very confusing……here is an update:
Zambia, Midlands sub-branch launch = 26 September 2008;
Council banquet = 30 October 2008;
Durban year-end function = 1 November 2008;
Secunda year-end function = 14 November 2008.
I look forward to the December holidays coming up…..It is my favourite time of the year. Till then, be safe, be positive.
