Vaal Triangle branch news

April 2008 SAIMC

Yes, we are still going strong in the Vaal Triangle and getting better and better.

The March meeting started with Karl Engelbrecht (Vaal SAIMC Chairman) welcoming Edwin Bauer, Clinton Jensen and Calvin Madilonga from the Profibus User Group (PUG) and thanking them for all the efforts made in preparation for the Profibus in process control presentation.

The presentation started with Edwin Bauer stating that Profibus is the only solution that covers all key markets of industrial automation, namely factory, motion and process control. He mentioned that the rules for all Profibus design and installation must be adhered to, all companies doing design and installation must be Profibus accredited and all Profibus installations must be signed off by an accredited Profibus engineer.

This ensures that all designs and installation networks are fit for purpose and that equipment and cabling has been correctly specified.

PUG encourages all engineers involved in Profibus installations to join the PUG to gain access to all the Profibus information world-wide. This is a very interesting and a formative presentation and should be attended by all Instrumentation engineers looking at future Profibus installations.

SAIMC Vaal was also very grateful for the attendance of the SAIMC council members, Vivian McFadyen, Bill Steenberg and Johan van Jaarsveld.

Our next meeting will be held on 9 April 2008. All are welcome.
