The Durban branch of the SAIMC held their October 2025 issue at the Premier Splendid Hotel. It was well attended, and Meshalen (Mitch) Naidoo took the attendees on an interesting journey on ‘Asset Health Management: Tracking The Pulse Of Your Plant’.
As Mitch explained, asset health management transforms maintenance from reactive firefighting to proactive insight. By harnessing real-time data, it predicts issues, optimises performance and minimises costly downtime. It’s not just about keeping machines running, it’s about turning assets into reliable, high-performing contributors to business success. The meeting learnt the important lesson of how asset health management can be applied in practice, why it matters and the measurable value it delivers.
Naidoo is an ECSA-registered candidate technologist with a BTech in Electrical Engineering, C&I; and a postgraduate diploma in Project Management. He has 10 years experience in plant maintenance, automation and technical sales. At ifm, he supports KZN clients with project design, technical support and solutions that enable smarter, more reliable operations.
After a delicious dinner accompanied by much discussion and interaction, Whitney Mtolo, ably assisted by Siyabonga Mbamali, interviewed Mitch. The highlights can be seen at vm.tiktok.com/ZMAm3CyDX/
The Durban branch would like to thank Sya and Whitney for the slick production, and of course, to ifm for sponsoring the evening.
