Bühler hosts Student Career Expo
October 2025
News
Bühler Southern Africa recently hosted its fourth annual Student Career Expo, reaffirming its commitment to inspiring and guiding the next generation towards diverse and rewarding career possibilities. The event introduced learners to a wide range of opportunities within Bühler and across the industries it serves.
Managing director, Marco Sutter, opened the day by sharing Bühler’s history, global presence and role in driving innovation in food processing and advanced manufacturing. He urged learners to think broadly about their future and consider technical and engineering careers.
A highlight was a presentation by the South African Grain Milling Academy (SAGMA), the only accredited institution of its kind in sub-Saharan Africa. Affiliated with the Chamber of Milling, SAGMA showcased courses such as Milling for Non-Millers, Maize Milling Technology and Wheat Milling Technology, giving learners insight into this essential, yet often overlooked, industry.
Learners visited booths hosted by the engineering, technology, automation, customer service and value stream teams. Live demonstrations and direct interaction with Bühler experts gave practical insights into how each area supports the company’s success.
The programme also included a motivational talk by Mrs Fundiswa from Kings Discovery School, who encouraged learners to embrace their potential. Games, challenges and a guided warehouse tour kept energy levels high, while offering a behind-the-scenes look at Bühler’s cutting-edge equipment and large-scale manufacturing processes.
The day concluded with talks from Bühler’s departments, including finance, sales, marketing, HR, health and safety, engineering and shipping. Team members shared their career journeys, academic pathways and skills required to succeed.
