Annual Banquet 2005
The month of December 2005 saw SAIMC Zambia Branch hold its first Annual Banquet. The Banquet was held at Lothian House, Kitwe on 9 December. Sixty members and guests were in attendance. Starting at 7:30, it lasted until 11 pm. The branch is grateful to Endress+Hauser, Honeywell and Spirax-Mitech, for financial support. Members also came in and bought tickets for the Banquet in support of the occasion.
The guest of honour was the Engineering Institute of Zambia president, Tom Kamwendo, who encouraged members of the Branch to continue taking the Institute to greater heights. We were encouraged by the presence of the SAIMC council president, Cornu Perold, whose support is always valued. The programme included dinner, speeches from the guest of honour, the council president, the branch chairman and presentation of membership certificates to 17 new members.
The Branch will hold its first Annual General meeting and Elections on Sunday 12 February 2006. Nomination forms have already been sent to members eligible to vote and to be voted for. Sub Branch Elections were held on 28 January.
