Rustenburg Branch

May 2004 SAIMC

The 25 March meeting went off very well with the men from Phoenix presenting an interesting lecture on Interbus/Profibus and touch screen technology.

We would like to appeal to instrument suppliers for the Rustenburg area, not to target the last Thursday of every month for their special launches and braais, as this seems to have a negative effect on our Branch meetings. While we are on the subject, we still have a few opening slots for suppliers who wish to present a paper at one of our Branch meeting evenings this year.

What is in it for the supplier?

Well, first off, unlike the Jo'burg Branch, 98% of our audience are users. Secondly, we have a congenial atmosphere at the RPM-R recreation mine club for our meetings. The facilities include the use of a large screen and a Proxima - a roomy conference room, with a ladies bar, snacks made on the premises - and drinks at reasonable prices.

Thirdly, the supplier has an opportunity to meet new clients who are directly involved in instrumentation, measurement and control. We have various engineering, metallurgy and mining personnel, at all levels, attending our meetings. If you are interested, give our Branch Secretary, Hentie Fourie, a call on 082 929 7771.
