It was great seeing so many at the professional development meeting.
Thanks go out to Dave McDonald who had the hard task of trying to explain the requirements and regulations regarding process plant and machinery safety and safety systems. Dave gave us some idea of where the problems start and how to avoid them. He also showed us some examples of how to specify the safety protection levels required and how to calculate and evaluate any reduction of risk. It became clear that the employment of programmable devices and embedded communication links provides new challenges to the specification, implementation and maintenance of any safety system/s. Dave has kindly offered to send me the presentation minus some of the pics (for e-mail 'netiquette'). Anybody interested please let me know and I can forward once I receive this from Dave.
We are arranging a 'behind the scenes' visit to the Century City, Canal Walk shopping centre on 21 Oct covering: pumps and telemetry controls, electricity management, wetlands project and CCTV systems. We also have two international speakers lined up for presentations before the end of the year.
