Secunda Branch

July 2003 SAIMC

It happened again and this time it was bigger than ever before. I am talking about the Secunda Branch Golf day. And what a day it has been! A total of 36 teams entered with 11 sponsored holes. I think this was the biggest event ever hosted at Walker Park. We are honestly sorry for those that we had to turn down... We just could not accommodate more players on the day. The start was moved to sun-up and we just managed to get the last team in before sun down. Thanks again to everyone involved in the biggest event of the year for the Secunda branch. This includes our sponsors, the golf course, the players, organisers and the committee of our branch. I believe that some of the water holes for next year are already being booked and paid for. I have heard a rumour that Yokogawa won the team trophy again - but we will have to see in August, when the presentation will be made. To the Johannesburg branch I can only say, 'eat your hearts out'; you are lucky that the branch of the year is not decided on this event but thanks for your support as well - although you all left early.

Our monthly presentation also turned out to be a great success. One of our greatest supporters, E & H presented what is new in ultrasonic flow. Again well prepared and well presented. Thanks to JvJ and his team. Organising these events now has become a real team effort with everyone trying to get their presenters to do a presentation. This is what I call team spirit. Thanks guys - you are the best.

Our first site visit for this year to Wika again went very well and everyone who attended found it very educational and interesting. Thanks to Dennis for organising and Rainer Holz from Wika, who sponsored the day. The next one is planned to BMW and details will follow soon.

The Witbank Sub-branch held its AGM, and our president as well as the chairman of the Secunda branch attended this event. Everything went well but it was very disturbing to see so few people attending. Their committee had their first meeting and from the minutes all indications are that they plan an exciting year to follow. Please support them as well; it is for our benefit also.

The next big event for us is the Penmac Roadshow. Do not pass the Secunda stand without saying Hi - or you will be dealt with severely, and then miss your lift back home.

Where are the other branches - missing in action?

Remember your shirts and caps. Batch orders will take preference and there might be some discount depending on the quantities ordered. Do all council members have theirs and what about all the branch committees?
