Johannesburg Branch, Branch of the Year 2002!
July 2003
SAIMC
Our June meeting was sponsored by Endress + Hauser and Martin Kotze presented a paper on wastewater plant control. This was the most interactive evening that we have experienced since the battle of the busses in 2000. There were many interesting questions leading to constructive debate on the best procedures to be followed for the control of a wastewater plant. Since wastewater plants do not normally generate revenue, it is imperative that the control philosophy results in an economic solution to a repugnant problem. We were in the fortunate position to have a number of senior water and wastewater experts present who shared their views with us. The turnout was extremely good, and for the first time this year, our excellent snacks were all finished before the evening was out. Fortunately there was still plenty to drink.
Our next meeting will be held at the usual place, Rivonia Country Club on 9 July at 18h30 - The topic will be: 'Fault-finding digital system, be it Profibus or Foundation Fieldbus'. The speaker will discuss the available software tools for fault analysis, and how they are used. There will be a demonstration using the latest diagnostic software available. Digital communication has made its mark in our industry and we need to know how to work with it. Join us and share your ideas, we encourage and appreciate constructive discussion. Cost - nothing! Everyone is welcome, both members and non-members. Please attend! Remember - we always meet on the second Wednesday of the month.
