For the benefit of members, the SAIMC plans host a one-hour presentation to explain the Skills Development Trust Fund. This presentation will be repeated from Monday to Friday at 15:00 during the first week of November (2-6 November). There will be a Q&A; session afterwards to ensure that all our members understand the implementation and purpose of the fund.
Johan Maartens.
The aim of the fund is twofold:
1. To create a unified voice for interaction with formal education and training institutions. The SAIMC aims to influence the curricula in such a way that these institutions will deliver ‘products’ (graduates) that are equipped with the skills that industry needs.
2. To create a platform in which participants will obtain maximum B-BBEE points for their skills development score cards.
The fund is aimed at financing the following:
• Scholarships (basic and higher education) such as schools and ABET providers (Category A).
• Bursaries for technicians, technologists and engineer education (Category B).
• Workplace training so that graduates can register with ECSA (Category C).
• SAQA formal contract (Category D).
• Unit standards training (Category E).
• Professional development (Category F)
such as CPD accredited events and exhibitions.
We look forward to talking with you and answering any questions you might have between 2 and 6 November. Registration details to follow.

“Never have so many owed so much to so few.” This phrase is a famous quote by Winston Churchill, referring to the efforts of the Royal Air Force pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain during World War II. It highlights the immense gratitude owed to the relatively small number of pilots who played a crucial role in defending the United Kingdom from the German Luftwaffe.
