Secunda Branch

October 2002 SAIMC

I think I can now share some sentiments with our colleagues in the Johannesburg Branch. It is expected that you outperform the rest to show that you are tops. In the process you put pressure on yourself and it is then that Murphy is at his best. I am referring to the presentation for August that did not happen. Sorry guys, but a small mishap between the T's, dates were clashing and everything that goes with it. Next time try the P's for assistance. We have the promise that there will be two presentations in September.

The first one just passed with Phoenix Contact presenting to us the principles of lightning protection in our homes to protect our valuable electronic equipment. Derwyn reported that they are not so much in need of lightning protection - but would appreciate hearing about something that could protect them and their equipment from the wind. We all realise that the time was just right and we acknowledge that we all have a lot to do before the next strike. The next one still to come must be confirmed and we will let you know soon.

Our sponsor-thanking and prize-giving afternoon was an enormous success with over 20 sponsors attending. A massive congratulations to Yokogawa who won the golf competition in May. There will definitely be some competition next year. Mark this day in your diaries NOW. The last Thursday in May. (JHB take note.)

The murmurings that emanated from Witbank Sub Branch have blossomed into actions. Unfortunately this publication goes to press shortly before their very first golf day, so we will have to report back on their success in the next issue. Like any good and outstanding wine, they are happy to mature slowly to perfection. With the assistance from their members and the support from our suppliers, their future promises to be paved with success stories all the way.

Golf shirts available in all sizes in white and navy blue and golf caps in blue with the SAIMC logo are still available.

The shirts look great – even on big blokes!
