As one of the world's largest Profibus markets, South Africa does not sport many suppliers of Foundation Fieldbus instrumentation. In line with its philosophy of offering total solutions, instrumentation specialist Endress+Hauser is enhancing its complete range of products with Foundation Fieldbus (FF) variants, highlighting the company's dedication to meeting any customer's requirements.
The iTEMP FF TMT 165 temperature transmitter represents the latest addition to Endress+Hauser's Fieldbus range and comes with a host of advantageous features. Using FF protocol, the TMT 165 is a universal two-channel field transmitter for resistance thermometers, thermocouples, resistance and voltage transmitters and differential measurement.
Pressure, temperature and system component product manager, Paul de Stefanis, believes it is important for Endress+Hauser to continue expanding its product range, both in terms of inventing new solutions and enhancing existing products.
"With over 15 000 I/O on Profibus in South Africa, it is clearly the preferred regional technology," he confirms. "However, there are several large individual clients who prefer Foundation Fieldbus, often due to the fact that they form part of US corporations or groups. We have to be able to meet their requirements as expediently as though they were using Profibus."
Standard technical features incorporated into the TMT 165 range from Eex ia and Eex d certification to galvanic isolation, 2-wire technology, high accuracy in the total ambient temperature range, 14 presettable function blocks with 18 block modes, galvanic isolation, PID controller, dual channel input and direct control of valves.
