SA system integrator expands into Botswana

November 2002 System Integration & Control Systems Design

Gauteng-based water engineering experts Thuthuka Project Managers has expanded into Botswana with the registration of Thuthuka Project Managers Botswana.

Thuthuka Project Managers' project engineer Hennie Cronjé says, "We have identified Botswana as a definite growth area for Thuthuka and made a strategic decision to establish a branch at Selebi Pikwe in order to facilitate projects in Botswana."

Botswana, together with the rest of Africa, faces the challenge of delivering potable water and safe sanitation to its people. Thuthuka Project Managers, as part of its range of services, is able to offer a turnkey solution that applies technology that is suited to local conditions and users.

Cronjé adds, "The lack of infrastructure is one of the biggest hurdles when doing business in Africa. By establishing a branch in Botswana, Thuthuka will at least overcome some of these challenges. We have discovered that African countries prefer to do business with African companies, and we are showing our commitment to our African projects by setting up this base. We are confident that we will be able to extend the business tremendously in Botswana."

MD Bill Pullen says, "Our objective is to make good use of local companies and labour wherever possible and offer southern African solutions to uniquely southern African projects. Thuthuka has grown its international business to 30% of its total income, with this figure set to reach 50% within the next few months. It makes sense for us to have local representation in order to better meet the challenges of working in Africa."

Bill Pullen and Hennie Cronjé are directors of Thuthuka Project Managers Botswana.
