Broader range of IR sensors now on offer

Sensors & Transducers
Exergen Corporation, a leading manufacturer of infrared temperature sensors, has recently expanded its family of SmartIRt/c sensors by including an additional operating range as well as expanding the choice of output modes. With a reduction in the sensing range 0 to 100°C instead of 0 to 250°C the sensitivity or resolution in the output increased proportionally. The additional output choices (0 to 10 V and RS232 in addition to the previous choices of 0 to 5 V and 4 to 20 mA) means that the SmartIRt/c can connect to virtually any control system or display. These improvements make the SmartIRt/c even easier to use and apply to virtually any application. Extremely accurate as well as fast, the new sensor family is perfect for all applications including printing, painting, coating, lamination, automotive and packaging.
All SmartIRt/c family members currently offer a 3 to 1 field of view and support ambient temperatures ranging from 0 to 70°C. The standard units come with a built-in air purge and mounting holes. No additional items are needed to get up and working. An optional choice is having access to the sensor's ambient temperature offering higher accuracy and repeatability for extremely sensitive applications.
The SmartIRt/c sensors are housed in a small, self-contained unit only 83 mm long, 40 mm wide and 19 mm deep. They are lightweight and fit virtually anywhere. The new IRt/c's from Exergen require a power source of 12 to 24 V depending upon configuration. More information is available on the Exergen website at www.exergen.com.
