Jaycor appointed as Belden agent in southern Africa

February 2002 News

Jaycor, a major supplier of a vast range of specialised cables, connectors and various allied products for the electrical, electronic, instrumentation and computer industries has been appointed the agent for Belden in southern Africa.

Belden has been a leading worldwide supplier of speciality wire and cable products for nearly 100 years. It has one of the largest product offerings in the markets in which it serves, which includes over 3000 items for:

* Computer networking and computer equipment.

* Industrial instrumentation and control.

* Broadcast, entertainment and cable television.

* Telecommunications.

* Electrical equipment: including motors, lighting, test apparatus, heating and cooling.

Belden's industrial market definition has recently been expanded to include the many cable constructions used in a host of electronic equipment and control applications. Belden has segregated its entertainment products, used mainly in broadcast video and professional sound systems. All four are growth markets - driven by technical innovation such as digital television, faster and higher capacity data networks, electronically controlled manufacturing methods and significant advances in personal communications.

When higher networking speeds appeared likely, Belden engineers developed an innovative way to bond Teflon-insulated data cables to increase performance. Its patented cables are now leaders in high-speed networking. As computers become faster, network cabling must increase its ability to transmit data at higher speeds. Belden has pioneered high-speed, copper-based LAN cable. Likewise, the migration of broadcasting from analog to digital requires cables designed to accommodate higher frequencies.
