Laser M receives export award
February 2002
News
At a prestigious function on 26 November Laser Measurement received the President's SME Export award for their export achievements. President Thabo Mbeki, Alec Erwin and Ben Ngubane presented the award to Wendy Richards Managing Director of Laser Measurement.
Laser M has been exporting its laser instruments since 1995 when it appointed Les Eaton in Australia as its first international agent for the products. In 1999 the company formed a partnership with K Tek Corporation in the USA. This escalated the exports to the extent that it had over 300% growth of exports over the last two years.
The laser meters are distance measurement instruments that have been designed and developed in South Africa. They are being used in some of the harshest mining environments around the world. This high technology product is unique and the future export potential is huge.
K Tek recognised this potential and formed a partnership with Laser M. The US company does all the international distribution. This has already started to pay off with the large increase in products exported and it is expected to grow substantially over the next few years.
