With its OZD FIP and OZD Genius, Richard Hirschmann, Germany, has now produced two fibre-optic interfaces specially for reliable FIP or WorldFIP and Genius-Bus networks. They are intended for use anywhere where components have to meet particularly high reliability standards, for example in traffic control technology, car production, facility management in buildings technology and in process management in industrial systems.
With a data speed of 1 Mbps for the OZD FIP and 153,6 Kbps for the OZD Genius, signals can be sent with full protocol transparency even to users situated far away. Redundant fibre-optic double-ring structures and a redundant power supply guarantee a low failure rate and high transfer reliability. A quick start-up and short maintenance waiting times are guaranteed. Both Hirschmann fibre-optic interfaces have diagnostic LEDs that indicate the status of the system. An operating circuit reliably transmits any system management signals. The robust, compact metal housing is made for hard industrial environments and provides effective shielding from electromagnetic fields.
