Opto sensors that enjoy a good wash

The versatile OG family of M18 opto sensors from IFM Electronic is now available in new Wet-Line versions. With their IP68 protection ratings and stainless steel bodies, they are an appropriate choice for the food industry and other demanding applications where they may be subject to pressure washing or exposure to aggressive cleaning chemicals.
The Wet-Line products are available in through-beam, retroreflective, diffuse reflection and background-suppression versions, all of which offer extended sensing ranges, combined with total operating stability over a temperature range of -20 to +80°C. The sensors are manufactured from food grade materials, and feature smooth, shatterproof lens covers, which resist the build-up of contaminants.
For ease of adjustment, OG Wet-Line sensors incorporate IFM's touch-to-teach setting technology. Users simply press a button once with the target in place, then again with no target, and the sensor automatically adjusts itself for optimum performance. Three LEDs are provided to confirm correct setting and to show the status of the supply and the sensor output.
The sensors are suitable for operation from DC supplies in the range 10 to 30 V, making them equally suitable for use on nominal 12 V and 24 V systems. The units are designed for three-wire connection, and each has a single short-circuit, overload and reverse-polarity protected PNP output, which is user-selectable as light-on or dark-on.
To ensure maximum versatility and compatibility with existing installations, IFM Electronic's OG Wet-Line opto sensors are offered with a choice of industry-standard M12 connectors, or fixed prewired with 6 m long PVC cables.
