A sensor more reliable than the human eye

Sensors & Transducers
The most recent colour sensor from Wenglor detects colour nuances that are indistinguishable by the human eye. Even in the case of transparent coloured objects, the slightest traces of colour are reliably recognised because the sensor can be operated in either scanning and through-beam mode. The reference colour for each of the three outputs is selected by means of teach-in either directly at the sensor or externally, making operation simple.
When the colour value is taught in, a colour recognition window width is established at the same time. Window width can be set to one of seven different values individually for each output. When set to the smallest window width, Wenglor's newly developed sensor is able to reliably detect the finest colour nuances independent of ambient light. When set to the largest window width, it recognises colour groups only. Due to the fact that the sensor uses an integrated white light source, it is able to recognise any colour based upon reflected light components. (Pull-in and release delay are adjustable.)
The RS232 interface provides users with extravagant, and user-friendly options (if all settings are entered digitally with the help of a computer and read out to the sensor): The sensor is capable of reading out RGB colour values via the interface. It can be installed almost anywhere thanks to its minimal dimensions of only 50 x 50 x 22 mm, as well as its swivel-type plug connector.
