Pressure Measurement & Control

Range of water industry related sensors

January 2002 Pressure Measurement & Control

IFM Electronic has now developed an extensive range of flow, pressure, level and position sensors to meet the stringent demands of today's water industry. All sensors in the range use the latest solid-state sensing technology, which eliminates the need for failure-prone moving parts, together with microprocessor-based circuitry that makes adjustment fast, easy and certain.

IFM's electronic flow switches are used, for example, to confirm the presence of carrier water in dosing and sample pumps, to detect leaking seals in rotary valves, and to provide run-dry protection for pumps. These units are available with a wide range of adaptors that enables the same model of sensor to be used in a variety of diverse applications, simplifying installation, and greatly reducing the number of spares that need to be held.

Pressure sensors from IFM feature robust ceramic sensing cells, which offer high accuracy and are highly resistant to damage caused by pressure surges. Typical water-industry applications include monitoring the suction and delivery pressures of pumps and checking the pressure in filter-press hydraulic rams.

Capacitive proximity sensors in the IFM range, all of which feature stable, EMC-immune charge-balance technology, are invaluable for level checking through sight glasses, and in tanks with nonmetallic walls. The new LK range of sensors can replace troublesome float switches in applications such as screening tanks.

IFM's new Efector M range of inductive proximity sensors offers extended range combined with robust single-piece construction, and is an ideal choice for applications such as scraper position monitoring, checking the piston stroke in dosing pumps, and sensing penstock gate positions.
