Miniature transit time sensor

June 2016 Sensors & Transducers

Wenglor’s miniature transit time sensor measures just 22 x 32 x 12 mm, which is ideal for checking presence and position monitoring in tight spaces. At the same time, the device offers a working range of 1000 mm.

Equipped with WinTec technology, which allows for interference-free detection of black or glossy objects, even at extreme angles, Wenglor is a leader in the field of photoelectronic sensors with its new P1KY001.

The device includes numerous capabilities, which permit use in complex automation applications. For example, the high performance triple-dot laser diodes (laser class 1) detects objects with precision at a switching frequency of 1000 Hz. Capable of operating in temperatures ranging from -40 to +50°C, the P1KY001 is suited to adverse environments, for instance in cold storage facilities.

Its large 1000 mm working range and two switching outputs ensure excellent performance, complemented by user-friendly, intuitive operation. In addition, the two LED displays, which are visible over all axes, provide information on power supply, switching status and error diagnostics. Blinking signals inform the user if the sensor is contaminated or has not been properly mounted and adjusted.

This transit time sensor has been successfully integrated and tested in shuttle systems in automated small parts warehouses, at manual workstations in the automotive industry and in industrial saws in the woodworking industry, to mention just a few applications.
