Bauer motors for the SA market

May 2016 News

The Bauer range of aluminium three-phase 380 and 525 V motors, available locally from Bearings International (BI), are ideal for industrial applications such as fans, compressors, pumps, sanding machines and pedestal drilling machines platforms.

“This MS range of motors has been supplied successfully to the South African market for the past decade,” says Lewis Hiepner, product manager: electric motors at BI. “A main feature is the multi-mount design, with the added benefit of being able to change the feet on-site.”

This gives the customer the option of having the terminal box on the top or on the left or right hand side, depending on the specific requirements. In addition, Bauer motors can be fitted with an external brake of either an AC or DC type.

All Bauer motors conform to the relevant IEC standards, as well as being designed for S1 duty. This means that the motors can run continuously for 24 hours under normal load conditions. Another feature is the Class F insulation, with a ‘B’ temperature rise (80°C plus a maximum ambient temperature of 40°C, giving a total of 120°C).

“As part of our strategy of being a total solutions partner for our customers, we stock some of the best products and brands from around the world, and the Bauer range definitely falls into this category,” explains Ross Trevelyan, business unit head: product and engineering at BI.

BI, part of the Hudaco Group, has consolidated its position as a leading distributor of bearings and power transmission products in southern Africa by launching a new brand identity at the end of last year.
