To supplement its range of devices to measure length, angle, rotational speed and incline, Siko has released a new range of optical distance sensors covering a wealth of applications. The LA170 and LA060 sensors measure distance visually and are primarily used in automation processes.
Wherever automation processes exist there is also the need to measure clearance and distance to the nearest millimetre. With resolution from 0,12 mm, the LA170 and LA060 optical sensors have high precision and repeatability and are ideal for closed control loops. They employ the optical triangulation method. This is primarily used to measure distances up to 200 mm. Based on a linear and position-sensitive detector, they measure distance to the object, regardless of the quantity of reflected light. The LA170 has a measuring range of 30–200 mm and the LA060 20–80 mm.
These new distance sensors are part of the LinearLine series and come in an impressively compact package. Their slim dimensions allow them to be incorporated easily into narrow machine frames. With one touch of the button, the measurement range can be flexibly configured to the relevant application and, where applicable, even inverted. A switching window can also be adjusted as desired via an additional switching output. This ensures optimal ease of commissioning.
