Focus on new products at Electrex 2002

November 2001 News

Reed Exhibitions believes that the 'What's New' pavilion at Electrex 2002 is bound to attract the keen interest of exhibition visitors, and increase business traffic to participating exhibitors' stands.

"This pavilion will be an exclusive showcase of products that are new to South African markets," said Reed Industrial Exhibitions General Manager Tom McCafferty. "As such, it will be a magnet for decision-makers and buyers who need to keep abreast of product developments in the industry.

"Having had their interest levels raised by the product displays, visitors will cross to the individual company stands to learn more and, hopefully, do business." The What's New pavilion is being introduced for the first time at next year's exhibition as a value-adding bonus for stand-holders: Only participating exhibitors will be invited to display (at no additional cost) their new products in the pavilion.

Invitations and details of the offer will be issued at the pre-exhibition Exhibitors Briefing in January 2002, but some of the specifications include:

* Proposed products must be 'new to the South African market as at April 2001'.

* Participating exhibitors will be allocated space, at no cost to them, to display their products, either 'in the flesh' or graphically.

* Exhibitors will be expected to submit motivations for their product displays, which will be adjudicated by the South African Institute of Measurement & Control (SAIMC) committee.

"This is a great opportunity for companies to high-profile their new products and technologies," said SAIMC President Richard Teagle. "It will be an excellent showcase for those that were introduced at Interkama 2001 in Germany, and will be on show for the first time in Africa at Electrex. The What's New pavilion is an initiative that is bound to be enthusiastically supported by our members and other Electrex exhibitors."

Co-located for the first time with three other synergistic exhibitions - Fluidtrans & Airtech; Logistics; and Frigair - Electrex 2002 will be an important part of what is expected to be the largest gathering of nonmining industrialists on show on the African continent.

The pace of stand bookings for the exhibition is accelerating, and about 60% of the available space has already been snapped up. Prospective exhibitors should contact Zia Tomes at Reed Exhibitions SA.
