Digital vibration testing

The analysis of vibration is one of the most significant indicators of operating conditions in motors and rotating machinery. TIA Online has introduced a new handheld, digital vibration test meter, the Tamat VIB1400, which allows operators to detect anomalies in bearings as well as balancing and inadequate alignment before they become significant problems.

Predictive maintenance has proven to be the most convenient and economical practice undertaken by industry to avoid the unnecessary costs associated with preventive maintenance schedules, and goes a long way to protect the system from unforeseen stoppages.

The Tamat VIB1400 is portable and allows for an organised predictive maintenance program based on programmed vibration monitoring. Acceleration, velocity and displacement are indicated on a LCD display for high visibility and an accelerometer with a magnetic base guarantees stable and repeatable measurements. Results are stored in an internal memory with up to 500 measurements that can be downloaded later to a PC to allow trend analysis development. Other features include:

• Frequency range 10 Hz – 1 kHz.

• Vibration testing for ISO 2954.

• RS-232 data output.

• RMS peak value.
