Harting’s managed and unmanaged Ha-VIS 4100 Ethernet switches feature 2-Gigabit ports and have been optimised and designed for use in harsh rail environments, enabling the set-up of Gigabit backbone structures. A total of 10 Ethernet ports (2GbE + 8FE) are implemented as vibration-proof M12 portals. Both the managed and unmanaged switches feature by-pass functionality, while the managed switch also supports external configuration memory.
The switches are designed to work in tandem with the innovative new M12 PushPull connector technology, but are also backward compatible with the well-known M12 connectors with screw locking. The M12 PushPull solution simplifies and speeds up the handling of Ethernet switches during installation. M12 PushPull results in a reliable and vibration-resistant connection to the switch, which locks with an audible click. Faced with the integration of additional services and an increasing number of end-devices, Ethernet networks on rolling stock can now be designed for higher bandwidth.
