Flexible miniature transducer for wide-ranging requirements
August 2014
Sensors & Transducers
The compact force transducers U9C and C9C from HBM Test & Measurement are individually configurable and offer high measurement accuracy of contact forces in ultrasonic welding, calibration of hardness testing machines or for testing Bowden cables. The numerous application areas of these new miniature force transducers range from dynamic tests and production tasks all the way to static testing of many different types of equipment. The compact dimensions significantly facilitate installation and ten measurement ranges are available from 50 N and 50 kN.
Both the universal force transducer U9C for tensile and compressive loading, and the C9C for compressive forces, adapt to the measurement task with their numerous variants. In addition to the standard design, the cable length and even the connector type can be individually selected where necessary. The connectors are optionally equipped with a TEDS chip to store the sensor data and allow the amplifier being used to set itself up once connected to the transducer.
The transducers are hermetically welded and meet the degree of protection IP67 as standard. The accuracy class of 0,2 represents a significant optimisation in comparison to the previous version and other transducers of this size.
As these cost-effective force transducers are electrically and mechanically compatible with the previous version, the U9C and C9C can be easily integrated in existing applications.
