Hamilton’s Arc-sensors can now be integrated into process control systems via Profibus DP protocol.
For several years, Hamilton’s sensors for the parameters pH, ORP, conductivity and oxygen (optical and amperometric) have ensured a direct connection via 4-20 mA or Modbus protocol, thus eliminating the need for a transmitter.
Now, users who want to exploit the full performance of the sensors, have the opportunity to choose a digital connection. To meet all requirements in the world of processing, Hamilton, together with Sanofi-Aventis Germany, recently developed a script for the Deutschmann Unigate CL-Profibus protocol converter. With this solution, the integration into process control systems becomes easy and allows the performance of Arc-technology to be exploited to the fullest.
Thanks to the digital communication between sensor and process control system, the operator is able to access not only the obligatory measuring values, but also the quality relevant data-like sensor and communication status, calibration data, or even information concerning the measuring point. Registers can be added on request and therefore the storage of all quality-relevant data can be implemented via the control system.
Further solutions with interfaces to FF or Profinet are planned for the future.
