Seaward appoints Test Instruments Africa
April 2013
News
Test Instruments Africa (TIA) a South African test instruments company has been appointed sole distributor in southern Africa by Seaward, a market-leader in the design and manufacture of electrical test equipment, based in the United Kingdom.
Specialists in the portable appliance testing market, Seaward has, for 25 years, been developing testers, software and accessories for this growing international requirement. “With the recent emphasis on a risk-based approach to workplace electrical safety testing, a significant challenge has been posed for manufacturers operating in this space. However, this creates major opportunities for those firms, like Seaward, who are able to respond positively to the changes by adopting a new approach,” says Jim Wallace, product technology director at Seaward.
“Our response to this growing need,” says Wallace, “includes the launch of Seaward’s ground-breaking new PAT Tester, Apollo 600, which, with its unique innovative features such as on-board cameras, also serves as a comprehensive health and safety management system.”
Justin Clarkson (l) with Nathan Ridgeway, international business development manager at Seaward.
TIA sales director Justin Clarkson says, “In South Africa there are four regulations pertaining to the safety of persons and the equipment used whilst on work premises. It is clear from these that there is a requirement and duty to inspect and test all types of electrical equipment in the interest of ensuring the safety of both employees and the public.”
The Cropico and Clare ranges of precision instruments and industrial electrical test equipment bolster Seaward’s product offering and demonstrate the result of 70 years of technical expertise across a number of industries including manufacturing, utilities and aerospace. Seaward Solar manufactures a range of solar PV test equipment enabling Photovoltaic installers to meet all testing and certification recommendations of IEC 62446 safely and efficiently.
“We are excited about representing Seaward in the region and believe that there is significant scope for these products across a wide range of industries,” concludes Clarkson.
