Omniflex's M2E RTU solution

March 2013 SCADA/HMI

The Teleterm M2E RTU from Omniflex provides a simple, convenient and low-cost  way of getting remote data to scada and DCS systems over Ethernet. The device can be simply added to an existing Ethernet network with its own unique IP address. Each RTU is equipped with 12 I/O ports that can be configured for analogue or digital inputs/outputs, depending on the desired application. At locations where more I/O is required the RTU can easily be expanded by using the built-in serial port, connected to additional M2 RTUs or other serially driven devices. The M2E is also programmable in Isagraf, an industry standard programming environment for all five IEC61131-3 programming languages providing the ability for control and custom logic.

At its peak in 1994, the energy generation capacity of the UK’s nuclear power stations was 12,7 GW across 16 plants. In 2024, the capacity has fallen to around 5 GW, and the number of stations is down to nine. However, this is far from the end of the story as spent nuclear fuel remains radioactive for centuries, and requires rigorous safety processes to safeguard against leaks.
