NewElec’s standalone KD KE motor protection relays self-record every setting alteration, every event (2000 off in a rotating buffer) and the last 60 faults, complete with the current value at the time of the fault occurring. Also included are the minimum voltage present, the circuit interruption time and the date and time of occurrence.
The relays also record the running hours of the motor; the number of starts and trips; apparent and real power usage; and thermal utilisation of the motor for the last 10 start sequences. They require no additional current transformers right up to 50 A but are calibrated to 400 A when utilised with current transformers. The relays also monitor real and apparent power utilisation, discriminate between earth leakage and earth fault conditions and allow load loss (dry-run) conditions to be measured by current or power factor measurements. They can automatically optimise the restart times after an overload trip condition on the basis of the preceding 10 start thermal utilisation records.
