The latest development in the Vegaswing 60 range of vibrating level switches has added even more features to the existing range. The length of the tuning fork is only 40 mm, which means it can be used in pipes with a nominal diameter of DN 25. The switches function reliably in all liquids and are more stable, more flexible and more rugged than their predecessors. They can be installed in vessels where the product or other variables are not constant, as changes in pressure, temperature, foam, bubbles and even viscosity of the liquid will not affect the switching reliability.
"The Vegaswing 60 is the first vibrating level switch designed for operating temperatures from -50°C to +250°C," says Alan Wynn, MD of Vega Instruments SA.
The piezo element is the heart of Vegaswing and the tuning fork vibrates at its resonance frequency. When in contact with the medium, the frequency of the fork is changed and the switching command is triggered. The piezos are fastened mechanically to ensure an effective and rugged piezo drive. This is what allows Vegaswing to operate independently of high temperatures and pressure shocks.
"There is a Vegaswing 60 level switch to suit most environments," continues Wynn. "There are versions suitable for intrinsically safe applications, ideal for the chemical industry. The highly polished tuning fork of the Vegaswing 61 is perfect for use in the food processing industry, where measuring in viscous products presents no problems."
"The versatility of Vegaswing 60 means that you need only one level switch for virtually every application, thus saving considerable costs," he concludes.
Meeting the challenges of tank obstructions interfering with radar
Level Measurement & Control
One of the most challenging applications for non-contacting radar level transmitters is measuring level in tanks with internal obstructions, such as agitators, heating coils, pipes, ladders or baffles. Rosemount non-contacting radar level transmitters from Emerson feature an advanced solution that enables accurate and reliable level measurements in tanks with obstructions.
