Improved level sensor with I/O link

September 2012 Sensors & Transducers

The efector gwr level sensor from ifm electronic operates on the principle of guided wave radar and measures level using electromagnetic pulses in the nanosecond range. The sensor is suited to continuous level monitoring in almost all liquids including aqueous media, coolants, cleaning agents and oils.

The efector gwr offers high flexibility due to its modular sensor system. Versions are available with two or four switching outputs or a 4–20 mA/0–10 V analogue output. Easy operation is assured via the user menu and direct indication of the current level is indicated on the LED display. Sensor lengths are available up to 160 cm.

The sensor is directly mounted in the tank using a process connection or flange plate. If necessary, the sensor rod can be shortened easily and adapted to the tank by the user. Settings of all parameters as well as programming of the switch points and indication of the current level are carried out via a 4-digit alphanumeric display. In addition, the sensor can be configured and documented and the data record stored via IO-Link or the USB E30396 interface.

Telco sensors in the pulp and paper industry
Gail Norton Instrumentation Sensors & Transducers
The pulp and paper industry poses a major problem for most photoelectric sensors. The high level of contamination in these dusty, dirty and grimy environments makes it impossible for most competing sensors to operate and sense reliably and efficiently.

Always keeping an eye on the measured values
ifm - South Africa Electrical Power & Protection
Despite growing digitalisation, there are still many situations where analogue measured values such as the level in a tank or the temperature of a climatised room must be directly readable in the control cabinet or at the control desk. The current loop display is designed for precisely this purpose.
