SEW-Eurodrive to launch CDM at Electra Mining

September 2012 News

The Complete Drive Management (CDM) maintenance management solution from SEW-Eurodrive will be launched at this year’s Electra Mining show. The CDM includes the technical data of all motors, gearmotors, industrial gear units and frequency inverters, their usage information and classification of their condition as well as required maintenance measures if necessary. The drives are marked with a unique CDM number for identification and the data is stored with SEW equivalents as well as the current information regarding the condition in the DriveGate online database. Access authorisation is on a person-by-person basis and is specified by the customer.

With this innovative database, users have the greatest possible transparency for all motors and inverters according to type, number, condition, and availability. Using the CDM functions, eg, maintenance planning and history, allows maintenance to be optimised and additional benefits include the reduction of storage requirements thanks to optimised inventory balancing, the detection of redundancies and guaranteed spare parts availability.

Experience has shown that CDM maintenance management can lead to a double-digit increase in the percentage of system availability. In case of damage, the customer gets help quickly via agreed-upon services at the agreed-upon price and within the time specified in advance.

Locally, the company has been running a test site prior to the official launch. Heinrich Adonis, service and repair manager says that the pilot project is running smoothly and customers are already feeling the benefits of this new system. “We have purchased all the kits from Germany, our staff have been on training for the system and our internal software and processing systems are in place to run with this new project.”
