The Durban branch of The Society for Automation, Instrumentation, Measurement & Control (SAIMC) are offering an Award for Excellence for the best control and instrumentation project implemented anywhere by a KwaZulu-Natal company during the year ending 31 August 2012.
Entries are being sought from companies who have successfully implemented projects in any form of industry where the overall success of applying good measurement and control principles to any process system can be demonstrated and, ideally, some financial payback benefit shown. It is appreciated that it will be too early for a thorough return on investment to be demonstrated, so the scores will focus on safety and operability as well as proven functionality at this time.
The SAIMC Durban branch needs entries to be submitted not later than 28 September. The winner will be announced soon thereafter and a representative of the winning company invited to the branch’s annual gala dinner at the Heritage Theatre where the winning display plaque will be presented.
Entries will be accepted by the branch secretary and evaluated by the Durban committee. Unsuccessful entries will be duly notified and given feedback. The objective of this award is to recognise the contribution of individuals and organisations within the fields of automation, instrumentation and control, and to promote awareness of the contribution made to industry by this often unacknowledged engineering discipline.
