RSD-200 enclosed type railway DC/DC converter
May 2012
Electrical Power & Protection
After the launch of RSD-100 series (100 W) and RSD-150 series (150 W), Mean Well has expanded its second generation of enclosed type single output DC/DC converter with the RSD-200 series (200 W) to fulfil unmet requirements in vehicle applications. Featuring 2:1 input range and 4000 VDC input/output isolation, the RSD-200 series is characterised by 5G anti-vibration ability, working temperature range of -40 to 70°C, protections for short circuit, overload, output over voltage, over temperature and input reverse polarity, as well as built-in constant current limiting circuitry and 40 mm low profile design.
High efficiency circuit design gives RSD-200 up to 91% efficiency from a semi-encapsulated PCB that gives moisture, dust vibration protection while allowing optimum heat dissipation. They are cooled by convection and can operate over the full range without any derating. The design adheres to ITE standards (IEC60950-1 and EN55022) and also complies with railway certificates (EN50155, IEC60571, IEC61373, EN50121-3-2) for use in all kinds of vehicles equipped with a DC power source. The applications include railway, metro rapid transit system, subway, bus, trailer and maritime vessels. In addition, along with external batteries as the energy source, the range is suitable for harsh industrial installations such as security systems, DC UPS systems and telecommunication equipment.
