Lightning current arresters for power supply systems
April 2012
Electrical Power & Protection
The modular DehnBloc M lightning current arresters are energy coordinated with Dehn’s Type 2 DehnGuard arresters without the need for additional cable lengths or decoupling coils. DehnBloc M is ideally suited for use in the main distribution board of low voltage installations to protect against surges and even direct lightning strikes.
Equipped with the latest spark gap technology, the devices combine high performance and user friendliness in a single unit. With a discharge capacity up to 50 kA (10/350 μs) devices are leakage current free and equipped with a mechanical operating state indicator.
The vibration-proof module locking system eliminates shock or vibration during transport or operation.
DehnBloc M devices incorporate double terminals, allowing series connection of the SPDs in space and cost saving ways according to the IEC 60364-5-53 requirements for nominal currents up to 125 A. The operating state/fault indication immediately provides information on the availability of the device even if no operating current is present. Apart from the standard red and green indicator, devices have an additional remote signalling output. With its floating changeover contact, the remote signal can be used as a break or make contact according to the particular circuit concept.
