The new KT series of capacitive touch sensors from ifm electronic are designed for wall installation and can be used as stop/start buttons on mobile machines. The sensors can also be used as door openers. The touch sensitive series is compatible with automotive applications, and with their non-contact switching, no pressure is necessary making them wear and tear-free. LEDs are utilised as an optical feedback signal to indicate that the sensor has been activated.
The KT’s electronics suppress interference such as water, layers of ice or static foreign bodies, the touch sensors also switch through glass. As compared to mechanical switches, the sensors operate without wear, and, since they react to contact, no pressure is required for activation.
The sensors are oil-resistant, have an IP69K protection rating and are impact and scratch resistant. Wiring is easy due to the tried-and-tested three-wire technology.
