ABB in South Africa, part of the international group, will acquire NEI Africa's Reyrolle switchgear assets, and the assets of Power Engineers' distribution transformer business will be acquired by Desta Power Matla, an ABB Powertech Transformers associated company, pending a full due diligence exercise and approval by the Competition Commission.
The assets will be purchased from ALSTOM South Africa, which is leading the consortium for the total assets of NEI.
The switchgear assets will complement ABB's already extensive product and systems offering to customers in South Africa and sub-Saharan Africa.
