Flame sensors with fibre-optic systems

A range of flame sensors with fibre-optic systems, designed for various spectral ranges from UV to IR, is available from Durag. The type D-LE 701/703 flame sensors can be used in conjunction with Durag’s D-UG 110/120/660 controllers and D-GF 150/200 automatic combustion units.
Flame sensors with fibre-optics are available in two different models. The D-LE 701 series flame sensor’s electronics are housed in metal, separate from the fibre-optics, while the D-LE 703 series is connected directly to the fibre-optics.
The flame sensors only process the signals that correspond to the flickering of the flame, ensuring the sensor is resistant to the influence of constant ambient light sources. Each is equipped with various operational controls to adjust the sensor to the particular combustion conditions of a given application.
Detectors used in the UV flame sensors have a spectral range of either 190 to 520 nm or 280 to 410 nm. All blue burning flames, such as gas flames, where the portion of visible radiant energy is low, can be monitored with these flame sensors.
Detectors in the IR flame sensors offer a spectral sensitivity of 300 to 1100 nm or 780 to 1800 nm, depending on the model. IR flame sensors with a sensitivity of up to 1800 nm have proven themselves in monitoring gas and oil flames in low NOx combustion applications such as flue gas recirculation processes.
