A very small PIR sensor
September 2011
Sensors & Transducers
In response to the demand from luminaire manufacturers for occupancy detectors to be small enough to fit into light fittings, CP Electronics has developed the EBMPIR miniature PIR sensor. It is believed to be the smallest PIR sensor in the world.
All three versions have a host of energy saving features. The basic unit provides occupancy sensing in the form of absence and presence detection. The premium model has additional infrared control, lux sensing and pushbutton adjustment, while the Direct Dim version offers full dimming control as well, using DALI or DSI.
All versions provide automatic presence detection control or manual absence detection control using a switch input. The Direct Dim version includes two switch inputs to allow manual control for absence detection, dimming up/down and override on/off. The use of a two position momentary switch allows simple dimming with up and down dimming inputs rather than awkward single switch control.
The EBMPIR Sensor can be luminaire mounted in three ways: integrally in the luminaire using two fixing clips; side mounted using a threaded holder; or flush mounted using a separate clip. The unit is supplied in two parts, the power supply unit and the sensor head which comes prewired with a pluggable connector.
