On 1 January 2001, the EN 61000-3-2 standard became mandatory. According to this standard, the harmonic oscillation current of primary switchmode power supplies has to be within certain set limits.

Equipped with PFC (power factor correction) the new MCS primary switchmode power supplies can meet these requirements and pass the standard. The wide input voltage range makes it possible to use the MCS on almost every electricity supply in the world. The input voltage range for single-phase units is 90-265 V a.c. and for three-phase units 3 x 360-550 V a.c. The power range extends from 30 up to 960 W with output specification from 24 V/1,25 A up to 24 V/40 A.

There is always the need for more cabinet space: the book-shape design reduces the needed installation volume by as much as 50%, allowing for new installation possibilities. The user defines the manner in which the units respond to short circuit and overload conditions - the choice between automatic restart or total shutdown is useful in setting up for specific applications.
