For short measuring ranges, between 50 and 200 mm, Turck has developed its miniature linear displacement sensor LI-Q17 that unites all the positive qualities of customary measuring systems in one solution without the disadvantages. The LI-Q17 is not based on a magnetic locator, but uses the resonant circuit measuring principle; an object’s position is detected via an oscillating system consisting of a condenser and a coil. Thus reliable operation is allowed where the functionality of a magnetic position device is affected by electromagnetic fields caused by large motors or welding plants.
Four different versions are available in IP67 housings for measuring ranges 50, 100, 150 and 200 mm, over a temperature range from -40 to 70°C. The first models have an analogue output, with a high-resolution SSI model scheduled to follow. A well-thought-out assembly concept allows users to install and operate the sensor quickly and easily using the standard accessories. Robust metal clips can be latched into the housing to allow either vertical or horizontal installation and the electronic module of the position generator is pivoted to allow exact positioning in all installation situations. If an application requires a special measuring range, this can be user programmed on site.
