USB-based measuring amplifier

Sensors & Transducers
HBM has introduced a new USB-based measuring amplifier to the market with its espressoDAQ series. Despite the small size and inexpensive price, the modules developed by the metrology technology specialist offer high quality and performance capability, eg, carrier frequency technology and A/D converter with a 24 bit resolution. Individual modules can be supplied with voltage via the USB interface in cases where a separate power pack is not available.
Several measuring amplifiers can be operated via one USB hub to enable fully synchronised measurement systems using the ‘plug and measure’ principle for rapid measurement. In addition, the amplifiers also support TEDS (transducer electronic data sheet), enabling simple and rapid configuration of a wide range of transducer types. The modules are supplied together with simple to operate software for configuration, data acquisition and visualisation. Measured data can also be exported using most current formats.
Practically all measured quantities can be acquired using the various modules that make up the series. In addition to individually configurable current or voltage inputs, measurement using strain gauges is also possible as is the connection of thermocouples. The module inputs are electrically isolated and all channels have their own A/D converter for synchronous measurement. Typical applications can be found in the service sector where measurements can be implemented rapidly via a laptop and a module, ideal for applications where larger measurement systems would be too complex or expensive.
