Inductive sensors from IFM

April 2011 Sensors & Transducers

The new IER203 full metal inductive sensors from ifm electronic have two-wire technology for use in welding applications. Both the threaded body and the sensing face of the housing are made of stainless steel, while the non-stick coating allows weld spatter to roll off the sensor.

The DC PNP/NPN sensors are designed with additional seals and a plastic material which is resistant to oil, coolants and lubricants. These features contribute to a long life. The sensors are ideal for compact machines as they have a length of only 40 mm and are flush mountable. With M8 to M30 housings, they are mechanically resistant to impact on the sensing face, as well as being vibration and shock resistant, and meet IP67 requirements for ingress protection. They are suitable for an ambient temperature range from 25-70°°C.

The setting LED provides rapid adjustment and optimum utilisation of the increased sensing range of 2 mm.

Connection is through a PUR cable, M12 connector and gold-plated contacts.
