Electronic positioners from Instrotech

April 2011 Sensors & Transducers

Instrotech manufactures the PT-3 three point electronic positioner which drives electric servo motors and hydraulic cylinders, and the PT-4 which is designed for pneumatic actuators.

The PT-3 accurately positions actuators and servo motors by means of forward/stop/reverse solenoids or contactors from an analogue signal. The actuator is fitted with a feedback position signal which is compared to the analogue setpoint. Based on the deviation, the actuator is run and inched into position.

The PT-4 has a continuous output driving a spool valve which regulates the airflow forward/reverse to a pneumatic actuator.

For remote indication a 4-20 mA output is available. When the positioner is mounted in the field close to the actuator, only a 4-20 mA control signal and a power supply are needed. Output switching is by solid state photomos which can directly switch solenoids and drive motors via contactors. The auxiliary power supply is 110/220 V AC or 12/24 V DC.

The positioners are mounted on a rugged, polycarbonate field mount housing of IP65 protection standard. A one year warranty against faulty workmanship or defective materials is part of the package.
