Vega Instruments recently presented its new ProTrac range of radiation-based level and pressure measurement instrumentation to the South African market. Two separate launches were held, both presented by Roland Bonath, Vega’s Nuclear product manager and Tai Piazza, regional sales manager.
The Rustenburg launch was held at the Kedar Country Hotel. The ProTrac presentation was followed by some robust discussion. Meanwhile partners and wives were treated to a fun presentation by chef Tristan Masterton from Food Glorious Food before everyone enjoyed a sumptuous dinner. On hand to field questions was the team of sales engineers from local subsidiary Vega Instruments SA led by the company’s MD, John Groom.

A second launch was held at Jackal Creek Golf Estate, following which a large field of enthusiastic golfers enjoyed a day of golf. Guests at both events included representatives of project houses as well as the mining, petrochemical, paper and food and beverage industries. Feedback from both days was enthusiastic and positive. Customers were impressed with the quality of the Protrac instruments and the ease of calibration and setup.
ProTrac’s radiation-based measuring instruments determine level, point level, density, interface and mass flow using a radiation intensity so low that only special, highly sensitive sensors are able to pick it up. The range allows safe, economic, reliable control and measurement of both liquids and solids in high pressure boilers, coal bunkers or containers with chemically aggressive or explosive media.
The ProTrac range is part of Vega’s plics system which offers a choice in combining sensor, process fitting, electronics and housing. All ProTrac products are available from Vega Instruments SA.
