Cylindrical sensors are quick to install

Omron Electronics has introduced the SecureClick snap mounting system on its new E3FZ photo-sensors, making them faster and easier to install than most conventional types. The company says that by dramatically reducing the time needed for installation, the new sensors provide big cost savings – especially on large installations. The novel mounting system eliminates the need for nuts and bolts and the sensors simply click into place in a suitably drilled hole. Despite its simplicity, the SecureClick mounting system has been shown to be secure and provide good resistance to high levels of vibration.

Omron’s new sensors feature the popular space-saving short-body M18 cylindrical format, and incorporate high-intensity LED light sources for enhanced sensing range. Speedy installation, simple set up and competitive pricing make the new units particularly attractive for use in materials handling and other high volume applications in the food and beverage and packaging industries. Like other photo-sensors in the E3F family, the new E3FZ models feature Omron’s proven photoelectric sensing module for reliable operation under arduous conditions. The new sensors feature robust plastic bodies that are laser welded to give IP69K ingress protection, an operating temperature range of -25 to 55°C and high impact durability.

The sensors are available in through-beam versions with a maximum range of 15 m, retro-reflective versions with a range of 4 m and diffuse reflective versions with a range of 1 m. Models with background suppression are also available and these have a maximum operating range of 20 cm.
