Colour measurement of luminous objects

ASSTech Process Electronics and Instrumentation supplies a range of colour sensors from German manufacturer, Sensor Instruments. Within this range is the Spectro-FIO, a system that detects self luminous objects measuring different light sources similar to human visual perception. This is achieved by the ‘true colour’ detector that is integrated into the sensor and by software evaluation algorithms that provide information about the brightness and about the RGB values of the light source.

An extensive range of optical fibres and attachment optics allows for optimal matching of the sensor system to the respective light source; the required dynamic range is achieved by eight software-selectable gain stages. Up to 31 light sources can be stored in the sensor and the tolerance ranges for the individual colours can be preset. Information about the detected colours is provided via five digital outputs.
